Pitching Machine Competition

Had a small competition in class to build a 50cm^3 machine for shooting/transferring a ping pong ball.. Simple rules-the energy conservation must be done by a 3V motor... and those can shoot the longest distance won. My machine get 2nd place.. by shooting for 12.78m.

Some interesting machines of other group:
Using a paper plane.. But the fluid calculation is too hard and they failed.

Very funny design..at first they plan to use water to push the magic arm.. However they didn't have enough time to complete it.


Nice design.. but lack of power. Result: 2m++


Simple but they have won...shooting for more than 15m.

There are some other machines but I have forgotten to take their pictures... This subject is quite interesting.. making soccer robots programming for the first half of the semester and pitching machine for 2nd half... I enjoyed the process of making it... but the presentation is very troublesome.. need to calculate everything...Re numbers..air resistance... but then the theory prediction is not really helpful.. :p Maybe my maths is too bad...
